On Friday night AXS TV aired an excellent interview on “The Voice Versus” which featured Jim Ross speaking with Michael Schiavello. Ross was very candid during the interview and gave his honest opinions on many topics.
At one point he was asked whose matches he would watch if he could only watch one wrestler’s catalog. He answered by saying “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. He went on to talk about what made Austin so successful during the Attitude Era and he also talked about why he feels Austin won’t wrestle another match.
“His matches were always unpredictable. He didn’t like to lay things out. Okay you do this, you do that, over managing stuff, he didn’t like that. And that’s one of the reasons he hasn’t wrestled again. He wants to wrestle a certain opponent, that he thinks he can get the best match out of. And he wants to build to that match in a way that he feels comfortable in building it, and I don’t think Steve has the confidence that, that would happen. Therefore Stone Cold, I will eat my black hat if he ever wrestles again.”
During the interview Ross also said that he has always been competitive. Going forward it is goal to make sure that he is a part of the best wrestling commentary team with his new broadcast partner Josh Barnett.
