The Royal Rumble is set to take place on January 29th, and both Brock Lesnar and Goldberg have been confirmed for the Royal Rumble match. Brock Lesnar will no doubt be looking for revenge after Goldberg squashed him at Survivor Series, and the two men are expected to face off in a singles match at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, FL.
The Goldberg/Brock Lesnar rivalry has become heated in recent months, and there’s no denying that Goldberg vs. Lesnar III would be a huge attraction for WrestleMania. But WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross thinks that WWE may raise the stakes for the impending match by adding a major title to the mix. Ross shared his thoughts on a potential Goldberg/Lesnar match at WrestleMania in his latest blog, and he posted the following:
“I’d be surprised if Lesnar vs Goldberg at Wrestlemania isn’t for a major title to add to the personal issue of their rivalry. Lesnar is still the most fascinating talent on the WWE roster and with Heyman added into the mix it make Brock even more valuable.”
It remains to be seen if a title will be added to the mix, but given the major promotional push for both Goldberg and Brock Lesnar as of late, nothing would be surprising at this point.
Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar is said to be one of the matches that’s locked in for WrestleMania 33, but the rest of the card is still being discussed. One of the matches that seems likely to happen based on current storylines is Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt, and Ross noted that he’s been enjoying the slow burn storyline with The Wyatt Family.
“Enjoying the ongoing storyline between Orton and the Wyatt clan which will likely lead to a RKO vs Bray Wrestlemania bout which will be good. I also think that there is more traction in Luke Harper than we are currently seeing.”
Ross also talks about the return of Mickie James, Dolph Ziggler’s recent heel turn and more in his full blog which you can read here.
