During the Attitude Era there were several names who managed to take their career to new heights as the new era presented new opportunities for the stars on the WWE roster.
Ken Shamrock certainly seemed to make an impression on the fans during his run with the company, but he was only with WWE from 1997 to 1999. Jim Ross discussed Shamrock’s contributions to WWE on his Grilling JR podcast and he noted that he thought the former Intercontinental Champion was underrated.
“Oh, I always looked at Kenny as a top guy. He was hard to manage a little bit in the beginning. He wasn’t used to being on the road that many times that much. He was a great character to build around. I have a lot of respect for Kenny and tough guys we know God Almighty he had no problem navigating the locker room because nobody gage him any s***.
He’s very underrated in my opinion in the pro wrestling world. I think we may have missed an opportunity with him no doubt. If Ken Shamrock had become the champion let’s say, I had no problem with that. Believable. His promos were believable because he didn’t memorize his lines. I’m a Ken Shamrock fan, was then and still am.”
Ken Shamrock has yet to make an appearance on WWE programming since parting ways with WWE in 1999. Do you think WWE should bring him back someday? Sound off in the comments below.
