Money In The Bank is in the books and St Louis had a very interesting show to behold. The first-ever Women’s Money In The Bank match ended in controversial fashion but it wasn’t the only match ending in a way fans found displeasing.
Jim Ross recently brought up several topics surrounding 2017’s Money In The Bank and discussed the card and his observations in depth on his blog.
The Usos retained their SmackDown Live Tag Team Championships but it was due to a count out loss. Of course that meant Jimmy and Jey could keep their titles, but the fans were still robbed out of a satisfying ending. Jim Ross commented by saying he didn’t feel the finish was very well received.
“Enjoyed the work of the Usos and New Day but felt that the conclusion of the tag title bout was not as well received as many would have preferred. I’m not sure in today’s marketplace just how effective a countout ending is..and to think that time limit draws are rarely utilized any where in the business to any significant degree and that particular conclusion is so organic and understandable.”
Jim Ross also praised Naomi and Lana for their encounter at Money In The Bank. These two women worked as hard as they could to capture the crowd’s attention in the midst of the chaotic card.
With Carmella coming down midway through the match it gave plenty of distraction. But overall Jim Ross really put over Naomi and said she has way more ability than she’s given credit for. He also complimented Lana for being able to work in such a high-pressure situation so soon in her in-ring career.
“Naomi is much better than many fans give her credit for being. Also, hats off to Lana who stepped into the deep water on PPV with little experience.”
