Jim Ross has had an awful last couple of weeks. He lost the love of his life, Jan in a terrible Vespa accident. Although Jim Ross has been dealing with the grief, he’s been surrounded by people who love him and has received a barrage of support.
Jim Ross said he was planning to carry on as scheduled and take part in every WreslteMania weekend activity he was booked to appear at. Pro Wrestling Sheet is now reporting he is also set to appear at one event he wasn’t even promoted for: WrestleMania 33.
Apparently, Jim Ross accepted this role weeks ago and is scheduled to appear as a guest announcer for at least one match. Jim Ross and WWE haven’t spoken much since he was forced to leave the company after an interview panel he was hosting went badly. Ric Flair said some things that weren’t kosher to WWE and The Nature Boy was very emotional to say the least. The company blamed JR for not being able to control the setting and he was terminated because of the event.
PWInsider reports that Jim Ross is set to call the Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar match for the Universal Title on Sunday. It’s also being reported that Jim Ross has signed a new deal with the company which is similar to a Legends deal that will see him film footage for documentaries and occasionally call WWE matches. At this time it’s unknown how often he will be used.
This seems to be a real year for reconciliation as Jim Cornette is also taking part in (at least) the WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony as he inducts the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express.
Personally, we can’t wait to hear Jim Ross back on commentary in the WWE if these reports are accurate. Having him commentate under the WWE’s umbrellas once again will certainly be music to our ears.
