Business has certainly picked up in the wrestling business in recent months thanks to crossovers between AEW, Impact and NJPW. Recently it was reported that WWE is in talks with NJPW about possibly working with the promotion, and Tony Khan directly responded the rumors when he cut a promo where he mentioned WWE President Nick Khan.
In the promo Tony Khan addressed Nick Khan and said that if he’s been talking to NJPW for two months then he’s “gotten a lot done.” Then he proceeded to list recent crossovers with NJPW that have taken place in AEW over the last few weeks.
Tony Khan went on to tell Nick Khan that he has future plans for the IWGP US Title with NJPW, and that he thinks there’s only room for one Khan in the wrestling business, and it’s him, not some “Khan-man” from Connecticut.
The promo certainly got the wrestling world talking, and Jim Cornette chimed in with his nearly always controversial opinion when he posted the following on Twitter:
“I think @tonyschiavone24 and the rest of the @AEW staff should be commended for letting fans do promos with an on-air talent……oh, wait, this is actually a REAL promo? I thought it was a Make-A-Wish kid talking about the bouts between his action figures.”
AEW Double or Nothing will air live tonight on pay-per-view. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
