Jerry “The King” Lawler is considered by many to be one of the most legendary wrestlers to ever step foot in the ring and PWInsider is unfortunately reporting that Lawler suffered what they referred to as a “medical episode” while he was at his condo on Monday afternoon. The report noted that Lawler had gone out to lunch with his friends and was later rushed to the hospital after he became ill.
Action 5 News of Memphis has since clarified that Jerry Lawler suffered a stroke. The 73 year old Hall of Famer has reportedly undergone surgery and is currently recovering at a Florida hospital. At this point in time neither WWE nor Jerry Lawler’s family have issued any kind of statement, but Ricky Morton recently posted the following on Twitter:
“I hope my friend is going to okay. Love you, Jerry.”
Jerry Lawler recently appeared on the Royal Rumble kickoff show panel and also did a signing in Florida over the weekend. Lawler has still been active working matches on the independent scene, but he has not worked a match in a WWE ring since September of 2012 when he suffered a heart attack following a tag team match on Raw.
