JBL has been a very hot topic as of late thanks to Mauro Ranallo’s absence, and reported departure from WWE. It’s been reported that Layfield bullied Mauro and the tension between the two of them caused some issues for Mauro which led to depression.
There are quite a few fans out there who want to see WWE fire JBL and the #FireJBL hashtag has become very popular on Twitter as of late. One man who has worked with Layfield over the years is WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler, and on the most recent episode of his podcast “Dinner With The King” Lawler indicated that he feels John is just misunderstood.
“I’m a JBL fan. Here’s the thing about JBL; you have to know the guy. And if you don’t get an opportunity to really know JBL, you can be offended. JBL is a funny guy. He’s a big guy. He’s boisterous. He comes across as, sometimes, crude and loud. But you gotta know him. That’s just JBL. He’s the same guy on commentary as he is in catering.”
Although it doesn’t look like the JBL controversy is going to die down anytime soon, Jerry Lawler doesn’t believe that WWE will fire JBL.
“I don’t [think so], but hey, that’s my opinion,” Lawler said. “I don’t think he will, not over something like this.”
