The WWE Monday Night Raw 25th anniversary show has come and gone, but the show featured appearances from some of the biggest names in the history of WWE.
An iconic duo reunited to call the action at the Manhattan Center when Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler teamed up, but shortly after their appearance on WWE programming a photo which appeared to show the duo sleeping during their downtime at the Manhattan Center started making the rounds online.
Both Jerry “The King” Lawler and Jim Ross have denied that they were sleeping during the Raw tapings, but that hasn’t stopped others in WWE from cracking jokes about it.
Jerry Lawler recently talked about the photo on his podcast, Dinner With The King, and he revealed that Triple H joked about it when he ran into him at the Royal Rumble.
“The first time I saw Triple H at the Royal Rumble, he goes, ‘Hey King.’ I said, ‘Hey Hunter.’ He said, ‘Try to stay awake out there tonight.’ I said, ‘OK.’ So yeah, it’s kind of like a joke,” Lawler said.
Lawler also admitted that he felt a little weird at the Royal Rumble, because no one really instructed him in regards to what he was supposed to be doing.
“I just felt weird because we were getting closer to the time of the Royal Rumble but nobody told me anything,” he continued. “Then, I finally had gone to Billy Kidman because he’s the one who kind of runs the time of the show because the Royal Rumble was about to start and then they run a package. I went over to him to ask if I was supposed to be out there already and he looked over at the sheet and said, ‘Oh no; you are going to have your music and entrance.’ I let out a big sigh of relief. Then, little bit after that I went out. I hadn’t talked to anybody; I hadn’t talked to Michael Cole or Corey Graves about what to do or say about the show. I had no clue about anything on the order that was going to happen.”
