John Cena has been hard at work promoting Fast & Furious 9, but he recently found himself on the receiving end of some major backlash when he referred to Taiwan as a country while talking about the film’s release.
The 16 time WWE World Champion responded to the backlash by posting a video where he apologized to the fans, but some fans didn’t accept his apology, and the situation has become a very hot topic on social media.
CM Punk recently weighed in on the controversy, and WWE Hall of Famer JBL shared his support for John Cena when he posted the following on Twitter:
“.@JohnCena has granted over 600 Make a Wishes-a record. Supported cancer research, rise above hate campaign, a million of his own dollars for racial equality. He has fought tirelessly for equality. An incredible track record of making the world better. I’ll stand with this guy.”
John Cena has not made an appearance on WWE programming since he was defeated by Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36, but it’s rumored that he will be returning in July when WWE starts touring again. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
