Sunday night at TLC, The Miz successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship against Dolph Ziggler in a ladder match. Dean Ambrose also challenged AJ Styles for the WWE World Championship in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match, but unlike The Miz, Dean Ambrose didn’t walk out with the gold.
Dean Ambrose appeared on this week’s episode of Miz TV, and The Miz talked trash, then gave Dean Ambrose a participation award for his efforts at TLC. Things eventually got heated, and Daniel Bryan came out and interrupted the confrontation. Bryan announced that The Miz would face Dean Ambrose in the main event, and he also announced that the Intercontinental Championship would be on the line.
It looked like Dean Ambrose had the upper hand, but Maryse knocked him off the top rope. James Ellsworth then came down to back up Dean Ambrose, despite the fact that Ambrose hit him with Dirty Deeds earlier in the night.
Dean Ambrose had The Miz rolled up, but James Ellsworth distracted the referee so Ambrose didn’t get the win. Ambrose then got up and went to confront Ellsworth but Miz hit him with the Skull Crushing Finale to end the match.
