It’s Confirmed, John Cena Is On Board To Play Duke Nukem In The Duke Nukem Movie

John Cena’s acting career has been really taking off over the last few years, and he’s been receiving a lot of praise from critics as of late for his performance in “Blockers.”

It’s safe to say that things are only going to get bigger and better for Cena’s acting career in the years to come, and it was recently reported that he was being considered for the lead role in a potential Duke Nukem movie.

Producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller recently spoke to CinemaBlend about the film, and they confirmed that as of right now John Cena is set to play the title character in the film. However, Form also noted that even though Cena has been confirmed, the film doesn’t have a script yet, so there’s a chance he could potentially pull out.

“Yeah, that’s what we’re working with now. He is. Yes. We don’t have a script yet, so that is confirmed at this point but if he reads the script and he doesn’t like the script I’m sure there’s ways that he could pull out, but right now he’s our guy.”

Video game movies don’t have the best track record when it comes to success with movie fans, and anyone who has played the Duke Nukem games is probably well aware that the franchise could be difficult to adapt for the big screen.

Form went on to say that it’s all about getting the tone right.

“We are working on Duke Nukem right now. It’s going to be about tone. That’s about tone. How do you nail that tone in the way that Deadpool nailed the tone? I think we have to do that and if we don’t get the tone right then we’re not going to make the movie.”

No word on a potential release date right now, but stay tuned for updates.
