The WWE Universe witnessed the dominance of the Raw female’s on Sunday night as they managed to defeat the SmackDown Women’s Division with two survivors.
Even though Charlotte attacked Bayley for stealing her spotlight after the match, the women managed to co-exist long enough to prove their dominance over their closest competition and now the real story involves Nikki Bella.
Before the match had even began Nikki was found in the back holding her neck because she had been attacked by someone from behind. She didn’t know who it was and it came as a huge shock to the WWE Universe because they thought she would captain her team to victory.
Instead, Natalya was given the nod and Nikki was kept out of the match and then the team went on to lose. It has been reported that this segment had been planned for many weeks and was delivered as planned.
This angle could now set up and intriguing storyline in the coming weeks for the SmackDown Women’s Division, because nobody knows who attacked Nikki and they could claim that that is the reason they lost.
Natalya had the most to gain by attacking Nikki, Carmella is currently stuck in a feud with the longest reigning Divas Champion, and Alexa Bliss would be the other name that many people will be considering when looking at all of Nikki’s enemies.
This could build for the next few months before the WWE Universe are made aware of who the attacker really was, but WWE’s best option could be to pin it on Becky Lynch.
The Irish Lasskicker has mentioned many times in recent interviews about how much she was wanted to turn heel and this would be a fantastic sleeping storyline. Nikki Bella has been the biggest star of the SmackDown women’s division since she returned at SummerSlam and that can’t honestly sit well with The Champion.
Becky could state that she wanted to prove that the Women’s Division was stronger without Nikki, but her plan failed. It would be a great way for Becky to finally turn heel like she wants to and it would be a storyline that fans can get behind.
Everyone loves a good ‘who done it’ mystery and it would be great to see fans attempting to figure out who it was and who had the most to gain from injuring Nikki.
The SmackDown Women’s Division is doomed to be in Raw’s shadow until the SmackDown creative writers decide to give the women something that they can finally sink their teeth into. These women have the talent, they proved that at Survivor Series, all they need now is a story line that will elevate them.
Shockingly, at Survivor Series it was SmackDown Women’s Division star Becky Lynch who managed to force the undefeated Nia Jax to tap out. It was reported that this was also planned to happen and that it was always supposed to Becky who forced Nia to submit.
It’s an odd position to put the SmackDown Women’s Champion into but it does mean that no Raw superstar has beaten Nia yet and that she is still undefeated on Monday night Raw, so WWE could still clutch at those straws.
It will be interesting to see how WWE manage to spin this and whether or not they will grant Becky’s wishes and actually allow her to turn heel. There is only seven female superstars on the SmackDown roster and three of those are currently heel superstars whilst four of them are face.
This would mean that Becky could easily become a heel superstar, especially since Eva Marie isn’t currently active on the SmackDown roster. The Blue Brand is currently operating with two heels and four faces, since it seems that Natalya has turned back into a face superstar.
This means that if Becky is revealed as the one who attacked Nikki Bella, then there wouldn’t have to be another turn by anyone else, because Becky could easily slot into a storyline.
Carmella and Nikki’s feud is as good as over and Alexa Bliss and Becky seemed to have finished fighting over the Women’s Championship which means that all the females are currently free to be a part of what could be a decent storyline for the women of the Blue Brand going forward.
