There were a few names released in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter this week of new indie talent that WWE reportedly gave offers to come into the WWE Performance Center to start with the company in May. These names are quite exciting indeed and could really do some amazing things in WWE. But one of those people is denying this report entirely and he seems quite adamant about it.
If you were one of the many people who got very excited when you read Walter’s name on the list then this might be disappointing. They call the man Big Van Walter for a reason and he’s got loads of experience as well as the ability to help others grow in the ring. Walter would be a perfect asset to NXT but as it turns out that isn’t happening if you ask him.
One fan tweeted out to Walter about reports of his recent offer from WWE stating, “Per the Observer, WWE offered deals to Keith Lee and WALTER To start in May. Dave thinks Lee will take it as he’s not taking dates, but thinks WALTER won’t leave his job running the wXw Academy.”
But the 30-year-old Austrian was quick to answer in definitive tone when he said, “nobody offered anything, not true!” and he did use an exclamation point so you have to assume he means it.
Perhaps reports of his offer from WWE are incorrect or he’s just playing it off with complete denial until he shows up in Florida but that remains to be seen. Casey Michael of Squared Circle Sirens also noted that he was in the class of May 2018 WWE Performance Center recruit list as well.
It was reported in The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Walter said he wasn’t interested in going to WWE in the past and he’s got a good set up as an employee of wXw where he works as a trainer. So he might not want to leave his job at all, even for WWE. Or at least that’s his story right now.
