WWE likes to claim ownership of things. The Young Bucks realize this fact all too well. Even though it was hilarious to watch them invade Raw this week with other members of The Bullet Club, it still really upset WWE officials.
It wasn’t too long before Nick and Matt Jackson received an actual cease and desist order from WWE saying if they don’t stop using the “too sweet” hand gesture at wrestling events and on merchandise, they could be subject to a $150,000 penalty plus other damages.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that this legal action from WWE is not only ridiculous but it is extremely hypocritical. After all, the “too sweet” hand gesture was used all over before arriving in WWE, therefore they didn’t create it. It was also mentioned how Matt Hardy currently does the “delete” arm gesture for a gimmick WWE doesn’t own either.
But even though The Young Bucks might be banned from using the famous pro wrestling phrase and hand gesture it looks like one indie promotion is offering their company as sovereign territory for The Young Bucks.
Located in Montreal, Quebec, International Wrestling Syndicate was the original home of guys like Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. They’ve had plenty of amazing talent come through the promotion since and still possess a great roster of talent.
The Young Bucks stopped by IWS recently to challenge for the company’s Tag Team Titles. Even though they were unsuccessful, IWS is still offering them a home where they can feel free to do as many crotch chops and “too sweets” they like.
It is a generous invitation but keeping anything The Young Bucks do in IWS a secret might present a problem because the promotion is featured on television and their iPPVs are available for free. IWS has already booked guys like Rob Van Dam, Stephan Bonnar, and John Morrison for future events but they would always welcome The Young Bucks back.
There’s been no response from The Young Bucks’ camp about this gracious offer just yet but it’s great to know they’ve got options in case they feel like throwing up a “too sweet” once again.
