There are a lot of moving pieces around this time of the year as WWE hits the Road To WrestleMania. But it looks like one important segment was nixed from the show and there wasn’t any real explanation why.
Asuka pulled down the win at the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble match and now it’s just a matter of time before The Empress Of Tomorrow gets her WrestleMania moment. But apparently, we’re going to have to wait a little bit longer to find out who she will be facing.
The longest running NXT Women’s Champion faced Nia Jax at Elimination Chamber and stopped The Girl Who’s Not Like Most Girls from finding a spot in the Raw Women’s Title Match at Mania. We were supposed to find out what Asuka had decided to do the next night on Raw. But when Asuka came out the only thing that resulted was a six-woman tag match where the babyfaces won.
It was noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the initial plan was for Asuka to make her WrestleMania decision but obviously things changed on that. It was also noted that Alexa Bliss advocating for Jax to be included in the Raw Women’s Title match could come around and bite her because Asuka could choose to face Charlotte Flair at Mania leaving Bliss with an empty dance card. At that time, Nia Jax could be inserted into the mix.
Of course, if Asuka waited to challenge Charlotte then she would need to wait until Flair is finished with Ruby Riott first. Needless to say, the women’s division of both brands could experience a shake-up before WrestleMania rolls around.
But it looks like fans will have to wait a little bit longer to figure out what is going to happen with Asuka at WrestleMania because as of right now it looks like that decision is still up in the air.
At least we get a repeat of Asuka vs Nia Jax in the meantime because that match is booked for Raw next week.
