Hulk Hogan just hit the leg drop on Gawker in court. TMZ is reporting that Hogan won his sex tape trial to the tune of $115 million. He originally sued Gawker for only $110 million, but he walked away with an extra $5 million for his troubles. Hogan was awarded $55 million for economic injuries and $60 million for emotional damages.
Gawker founder Nick Denton has already released a statement saying that they will be appealing the verdict. He posted the following on Twitter:
“Given key evidence and the most important witnesses were both improperly withheld from the jury, we all knew the appeals court will need to resolve the case. I want to thank our lawyers for their outstanding work and am confident that we would have prevailed at trial if we had been allowed to present the full case to the jury. That’s why we feel very positive about the appeal that we have already begun preparing, as we expect to win the case ultimately.”
Following the trial Hulk Hogan commented on the verdict with the following:
So Hogan hit Gawker with the leg drop, but will they kick out at 2? That’s the big question here.
