The Hardys made their triumphant return to WWE at WrestleMania 33 a few years ago, but 2019 wasn’t a good year for Matt Hardy.
Matt spent most of his time sitting on the sidelines as Jeff was taken out of action due to injury, although Matt has been used sparingly on WWE programming in recent weeks.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Matt Hardy is expected to leave WWE when his contract expires in March.
Matt produced Broken Universe videos and pitched an idea for them to lead to the return of Broken Matt, but WWE officials weren’t interested.
It’s been speculated that Matt Hardy is the leading name to be the leader of the Dark Order in AEW, as they just started teasing a leader.
Three years ago The Young Bucks and The Hardys talked about a year long program that would have played out in Impact and ROH, but ultimately The Hardys signed with WWE.
The problem is that Jeff has had a lot of time added to his contract due to injuries, and can’t leave any time soon. Jeff has also given no indication that he’s looking to leave WWE.
