John Cena recently made his return to WWE programming, and this week on Monday Night Raw he made a big announcement when he told the fans that he’ll be entering the Royal Rumble this year because he doesn’t want to miss out on WrestleMania.
Last year Cena faced The Undertaker in a short match at WrestleMania 34, but it looks like WWE officials have something very different in mind for Cena this year.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that current plans call for John Cena to face Lars Sullivan on the Grandest Stage of Them All this year.
It’s believed that Sullivan will be getting a big push when he arrives on the main roster, and there’s speculation that with John Cena’s limited schedule, Sullivan could defeat Cena at WrestleMania.
However, the match is on the books but at this point there’s been no discussion of a possible finish this far in advance.
There’s also speculation that the angle could kick off at the Royal Rumble.
