CM Punk walked out of WWE just about four years ago and since then he’s had his eyes set on a much different prize. Punk wanted to become an MMA fighter and you can’t tell him something is impossible because he still strives to be the best he can to this day as he trains constantly for his next fight.
The Second City Savior had one unsuccessful bout against Mickey Gall at UFC 203 but since then he hasn’t been in the Octagon in an official sense. Although he keeps training another fight hasn’t been offered to him and some have begun to suspect if CM Punk did have another MMA fight then it wouldn’t be with UFC. After all, the appeal of his name could have lost some of its appeal since his quick defeat in 2016.
But Dana White might have let the cat out of the bag in some ways when he recently commented on CM Punk during an interview with The New York Post. If CM Punk doesn’t already have something in the pipeline, it certainly sounds like Dana White is willing to pair him up with another opponent soon enough so he can have another go in the UFC and possibly find some kind of redemption.
“I like that guy. He’s a good dude,” Dana White said. “He wants one more. He wants to get another shot. I’m going to give it to him.”
The wording of “one more” might lead some to analyze Dana White’s words to mean that CM Punk is getting another shot before they realize that this level of competition in MMA isn’t for him. After all, CM Punk had to start in a new business after dedicating his entire life to pro wrestling. Therefore a huge learning curve was evident.
But hopefully, if CM Punk can get another shot in the UFC it will have much better results for him. Then again there’s always pro wrestling because if he wants to return WWE isn’t the only game in town who would probably be more than willing to pay him great money to apply his craft once more.
