Bray Wyatt is a third-generation pro wrestler with a lot to offer. At just 30-years-old he’s reached his current position in WWE and he has plenty of room to grow. But his current character might need a refresher.
Wyatt was ushered into WWE’s training facility in 2009 because of his family lineage but he worked hard and finally achieved his dream of debuting on the WWE main roster in 2010 as Husky Harris. The story of Husky Harris is a short one, but it resulted in some great babyface promos from the future Eater Of Worlds.
After Randy Orton punted Harris in the skull and wrote him out of the storyline, Wyatt told Vince McMahon that he would be back and he certainly was.
In 2012, IRS’ son debuted a new gimmick in FCW called Bray Wyatt. The character evolved in FCW as it became NXT and Wyatt took Luke Harper and Erick Rowan under his wing to Follow The Buzzards.
Then on May 27th, 2014 Bray Wyatt’s first promos started airing on Raw to hype his debut. The rest, as they say, is history.
Wyatt achieved a lot with his character including World Title and Tag Team Title reigns. But since dropping the WWE World Championship to Randy Orton at WrestleMania 34, it seems Wyatt lost his footing. Maybe it had something to do with Randy Orton burning down Sister Abigail’s shed destroying her in the process. This strange link of Orton finding a way to destroy Wyatt isn’t lost on me, especially when you consider the fact they’re both third-generation Superstars.
But it appears that it took Matt Hardy to really finish off Bray Wyatt’s character thanks to the Ultimate Deletion. After Wyatt was thrown into the Lake Of Reincarnation he seemingly disappeared and Senor Benjamin couldn’t find him anywhere.
Even though Wyatt’s character might be in limbo on television he’s still got towns to make. Wyatt and Hardy had a little segment during the live show in Toronto on Friday and Hardy cut a nice promo beforehand where he told Wyatt that his character is about to change, and he intstructed him to “embrace the change.”
Hardy ended up going over and Wyatt remained his same old self. But there was a real moment where you could see Bray’s mind start to consider a possible change coming his way.
