How Rey Mysterio Made History At WWE Money In The Bank

There’s no denying that Rey Mysterio has had a legendary career, but his career isn’t over yet.

Rey is still doing what he does best each and every week on WWE programming, and he’s been wrapped up in a feud with Samoa Joe for some time now.

On Sunday night the two stars faced off in a quick match which saw Rey Mysterio defeat Samoa Joe to become the new United States Champion.

Rey Mysterio has held many titles over the years, but this is his first run with the United States Title.

When Mysterio won the title on Sunday night, he also became a modern-era Grand Slam Champion in the process.

According to WWE, the modern format for becoming a Grand Slam Champion requires Superstars to win the Intercontinental Championship, United States Championship, either the Raw (formerly WWE) or SmackDown Tag Team Championship, and either the WWE Championship or Universal Championship.
