Chris Jericho has had a busy year. He’s wrestled matches in NJPW, toured with his band Fozzy, hosted a cruise, and he’s also made a few appearances on WWE programming.
Jericho wrestled at the Greatest Royal Rumble back in April, and at one point he was scheduled to take on The Undertaker in a casket match, but he was pulled from the match and he instead competed in the Greatest Royal Rumble match.
Even though Jericho didn’t get to face The Undertaker he was paid well for his appearance, as the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Chris Jericho was paid $100,000 for working the Greatest Royal Rumble.
In regards to why Jericho was pulled from the Casket Match, the first ever Undisputed Champion indicated during a recent interview that he believes Vince pulled him due to his involvement with NJPW.
“I would think that possibly knowing Vince, from once again New Japan is an enemy. if it’s gonna make any difference? No, but to him like I said if it takes one buy from Network that goes to New Japan World, it’s the enemy. I think that he probably thought ‘i’m not gonna put Jericho in this highlight match where he has the chance to steal the show, I know him and Undertaker will kill it. I don’t wanna do that.’”
