Higher Ups Reportedly Unhappy About WWE Star’s Release

Last week WWE released a number of Superstars from the main roster and NXT. In the wake of the releases WWE has had to make some changes with the NXT North American Championship match at No Mercy being one example.

Fightful Select reports that there were several people unhappy with Mustafa Ali getting released from WWE. Sources noted that there was frustration regarding the lack of communication between NXT and WWE. The frustration emanated from the fact that a renewed effort has been made to add familiar faces to the NXT brand.

Mustafa Ali was originally set to face Dominik Mysterio at No Mercy, and it’s being said that as of last Tuesday there was no indication that Mustafa Ali was going to be cut.

Shawn Michaels reportedly had plans for Mustafa Ali through March of 2024 and the plan was for him to be part of the NXT brand long term. Dana Brooke’s release also affected immediate plans for NXT. It’s being said that NXT was happy to have Dana Brooke as she was well liked and willing to help people on the roster.
