NXT’s show in Orlando was a big one on Saturday night. There was plenty of action and every fan in attendance got way more than the price of their ticket. WWE’s developmental brand continuously brings outstanding action and the event in Orlando was no exception.
Ruby Riot made her NXT debut recently and the former Heidi Lovelace won a very good match against Mandy Rose. The Tough Enough veteran, Rose has been turning more than a few heads recently with her impressive improvement, but she was unsuccessful in Orlando against the veteran Riot.
The Drifter showed up under a hood as he interrupted Jeet Rama’s interview, but since Elias Samson isn’t supposed to be in NXT anymore because he lost that “Loser Leaves NXT” match he appeared as The Highway Man. That’s a very clever name change-up if we do say so ourselves. He did a neat little heel promo that was said to be highly entertaining until Jeet Rama ran him off.
After Buddy Murphy defeated Tino Sabbatelli with Riddick Moss at ringside, a familiar face returned to deliver his unique brand of punishment to the two heel NXT stars. The former Kenta has had one of the most unfortunate string of injuries since his debut years ago.
Fans thought they were going to get a lengthy Austin Aries vs. Hideo Itami feud after Itami delivered a GTS to The Greatest Man That Ever Lived, but sadly Hideo Itami would be sidelined again. Now he’s back and delivering the GTS once afain. It’s great to see the Go To Sleep once more, but it’s even better to see Hideo Itami back to doing what he does best.
Sanity, Heavy Machinery, Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford, and The Authors of Pain met in an elimination match that didn’t end well at all. In fact, it ended in a no contest as the three teams brawled with the referee unable to contain them. Nikki Cross seemed to be in the middle of all the violence and she loved every second of it.
To break these teams up, half the locker room needed to spill out to the ring in order to contain it. They were mildly successful at best.
The main event of the evening saw Shinsuke Nakmarura and Kassius Ohno tagging against Bobby Roode and Patrick Clark. The Tough Enough standout, Clark has been getting a lot of really good opportunities as of late, and this main event spot is no exception. The babyfaces won to send the crowd home happy. This crowd was very happy indeed because they had one heck of a house show in Orlando.
