When The Hardy Boyz made their return to WWE their “Broken” gimmick had seemingly been Deleted. Apparently, the ovation of the WrestleMania crowd knocked Matt Hardy out of the persona that traveled through space and time. But there have been several hints they could be slipping back into their previous characters.
Although Matt hasn’t explicitly said “delete” or “obsolete” on a microphone since his WWE return there have been references. He still does the “delete” arm motion during their entrance and nobody can stop a crowd from going into a frenzy of “delete” chants whenever they want to.
There was even a time when The Hardy Boyz spoke to Sheamus and Cesaro in the ring after a segment on Raw. You could tell Matt said they would be deleted, but it wasn’t on the microphone.
The Observer hypothesizes crowds might be doing the delete chants because the smarter WrestleMania crowd did it upon The Hardys’ return. The belief is WWE is building toward something in the line of bringing the Broken Universe into the story.
Whether Impact and WWE have reached a deal or Vince McMahon just decided he wanted to break the Hardys himself is unclear. But it certainly looks like The Hardy Boyz will become Broken Hardys again soon, only it will be under WWE’s banner.
The Hardys were using all of the Broken Universe mannerisms in full effect at the indie shows they worked to wrap up those obligations since coming back with WWE. Reports are it will probably only be a matter of time before they transition into some kind of full Broken Hardys gimmick on WWE television.
The Hardys also tried to bring a very good friend along with them to WWE. The Observer reports Matt and Jeff tried to get Jeremy Borash to follow them to WWE when they signed with the company.
If you didn’t know, Jeremy Borash was a great collaborative mind in the successful Broken Universe on TNA television. The Hardys obviously wanted to carry on that partnership. But due to Borash’s role as lead announcer for Impact Wrestling and his obligations as MC of Chef Robert Irvine and Jim Ross’ live shows, JB decided to stay where he was.
