Malakai Black’s status with AEW has been a very hot topic as of late as it’s been reported that he’s on his way out of the company. It’s also been reported that WWE is interested in bringing the former NXT Champion back, and that WWE officials see him as someone who could be a top singles star.
Recently WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff shared his thoughts on a potential WWE return for Malakai Black on his 83 Weeks podcast, and he claimed that Paul Heyman was very supportive of Black during his first run with the company.
“Look at the content that they have to produce. It’s a lot of content to fill. You’ve got ‘SmackDown’ and now you’ve got The CW. Yes, it’s a small network, but that’s an opportunity.
“You’ll probably see a lot of stars that might’ve otherwise been exclusive to ‘Raw’ or ‘SmackDown,’ and I think Malakai Black would be a great character.
“But I met Malakai in 2019, and Paul Heyman was very high on Malakai, almost like overly aggressive about trying to push him. Paul spent hours and hours and hours in catering, talking with Malakai, helping Malakai understand his character.”
