CM Punk has been in the professional wrestling business for decades now and he’s considered by many to be one of the best talkers in the industry. The Second City Saint has gone toe to toe with some big names on the mic, such as WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley.
During the November 12th, 2012 episode of Raw, Mick Foley and Punk got into a heated exchange as Foley stood up for Jerry Lawler following his heart attack.
While discussing the promo with Inside The Ropes, Mick Foley explained that originally CM Punk was supposed to deliver a scorching insult to Foley, but Punk refused to disrespect the legend when he read the script.
“Just to give you an idea about CM Punk. They had written Punk saying, ‘Oh, here comes, he looks like a float that’s late for the Thanksgiving Day parade. Here comes Mick Foley.’ And Punk crumpled it up, threw it in the ground. He said, ‘I’m not treating Mick Foley that way.’ And he made me feel like I could cut that promo. It’s amazing how belief in someone helps them believe in themselves.”
CM Punk has been off TV for a few weeks now as he was reportedly on set filming the upcoming romantic comedy The Bodyguard for Netflix, but the WWE World Heavyweight Champion has been confirmed for Raw this week.
Stay tuned for updates.
