Drew McIntyre has been one of WWE’s top stars for years, but The Scottish Warrior hasn’t appeared on WWE programming since he competed in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 39. Following the event it was reported that Drew McIntyre’s contract with WWE is set to expire later this year and the two sides are said to be far apart on money.
It was also recently reported that there’s a good chance McIntyre will be leaving WWE when his current deal expires, and it’s worth noting that WWE did not include him in the tournament to crown a new World Heavyweight Champion.
Booker T recently addressed Drew McIntyre’s status on his Hall of Fame podcast and he made it clear that he thinks Drew will be a star no matter where he goes.
“Him not being in this tournament kinda says a little bit of something, right? This is about guys being able to make money. I’m not looking for the monopoly in wrestling. I’m not looking to keep a guy, if he don’t want to stay. If a guy wanna leave, let him leave, and Drew McIntyre is a guy that’s put in work in WWE, not just once but twice so he knows what that system is all about. Any company in the world, he’ll be a star. He can make money anywhere he wants to.”
There’s still plenty of time for Drew McIntyre and WWE to work out a deal, but only time will tell if he ends up staying or leaving for another company. Stay tuned for updates.
