Unfortunately the wrestling world lost another legend today as it’s been announced that Afa Anoa’i has passed away at the age of 81. Afa’s son Samu Anoa’i confirmed the news when he posted the following on Facebook:
“It is with deepest regret that we announce the passing of my father Afa Anoai Sr. It was a peaceful transition and he was surrounded by loved ones. Please respect our privacy as we morn our father.”
Afa achieved success as one half of The Wild Samoans who managed to win the WWE Tag Team Titles three times throughout their career. The Wild Samoans cemented their legacy when they were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007. Afa last appeared on WWE programming in 2020 when The Wild Samoans acknowledged Roman Reigns as the Tribal Chief after he defeated Jey Uso in an I Quit match.
Our condolences go out to Afa’s family, friends and fans.
