Gunther has been one of the most talked about stars on the WWE roster in recent weeks as he picked up a major victory when he made John Cena tap out in his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event last month. Everyone has been wondering what’s next for Gunther and it appears that his next feud was revealed on Raw this week.
Before Gunther made his way to the ring Adam Pearce told him that this was a big show, so he should show some respect. Gunther made his way out and started cutting another promo about making John Cena tap out. When he called John Cena a “little b****” AJ Styles’ music hit and The Phenomenal One walked down to the ring.
AJ tried to speak, but Gunther cut him off and told AJ that he’s punching above his weight. The Ring General declared that he’s the best wrestler in the company right now because he’s the man that made John Cena tap out.
Gunther got in AJ’s face and asked him what he’s going to do about. Styles responded by slapping Gunther and The Ring General got heated while AJ stood his ground. AJ told Gunther he’s “not going to do nothing.” Gunther stared him down for a moment then AJ said, “that’s what I thought, nothing.” The Phenomenal One pushed his microphone into Gunther’s chest, dropped it then walked out.
Shortly after Gunther confronted Adam Pearce backstage and told him he wants to face Styles next week. Styles stepped up to Gunther once again and Pearce told them it’s official.
