Earlier this year Gunther earned the right to challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship when he won the King of the Ring tournament. The Ring General went on to challenge Damian Priest for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, and it was Gunther who walked out with the belt.

Gunther has been champion ever since SummerSlam, and he defended his title against Damian Priest in a rematch at the Survivor Series premium live event on Saturday night.

At one point Gunther went for a powerbomb only for Damian to counter with an attempt at the Razor’s Edge. Gunther blocked it and Damian Priest locked in the triangle choke. He went for the Razor’s Edge again, but Gunther reversed it into a powerbomb for a two count.

Throughout the match Damian Priest sold a shoulder injury and near the end of the match he struggled to hit the South of Heaven choke slam. Gunther locked in a Kimura, but Priest got out.

Gunther picked Damian Priest up and hit him with clothesline. He followed up by taunting the crowd and hitting another clothesline. The Ring General went for another clothesline, but Damian countered with a clothesline of his own followed by another one.

They went to the top rope as Gunther went for a superplex. Damian fell off the top to the outside and the ref went to check on Gunther inside the ring. Finn Balor appeared out of nowhere and hit Coup De Grace off the steel steps onto Damian who was on the floor at ringside.

Gunther rolled out of the ring and hit Finn with a big boot. He followed up with a powerbomb on Damian Priest then locked in the sleeper hold to put the challenger away.
