Gunther Retains WWE World Heavyweight Championship At Saturday Night’s Main Event

WWE loaded up the card for Saturday Night’s Main Event as the show featured a big match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Last month at Survivor Series, Gunther successfully defended his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest after Finn Balor interfered.

Originally Gunther was set to defend his title against Finn Balor in a singles match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, but Adam Pearce added Damian Priest to the match to make it a triple threat after Finn interfered at Survivor Series.

Damian Priest took Gunther out early on in the match when he jumped over the top rope and landed on him with a somersault. Finn Balor and Damian Priest battled back and forth for a while before Gunther returned to the match and took them both out with a big boot. Shortly after Damian Priest took out both men with a double clothesline then he grabbed Gunther’s wrist and went to the top rope and connected with Undertaker’s old school move on The Ring General.

Damian Priest threw Balor over the top rope then Gunther locked in a sleeper hold on Damian out of nowhere. He managed to get out of it and hit the South of Heaven choke slam. Balor went. for the Coup De Grace on Damian, but Gunther knocked him down onto the turnbuckle. Damian Priest grabbed Gunther as he climbed the turnbuckle and connected with a Razor’s Edge. Balor hit the Coup De Grace on Gunther as Damian broke up the count. Priest hit South of Heaven on Balor only for Gunther to break up the count.

Gunther then pulled Damian Priest out of the ring and powerbombed him on the steel steps. The Ring General got back in the ring and delivered a powerbomb to Finn Balor for the win.
