Goldberg hasn’t wrestled a match since he lost to Roman Reigns at the Elimination Chamber premium live event last year, but his in-ring career is not over. The former Universal Champion has made it clear that he wants to get back in the ring, and he mentioned on 93.7 The Ticket that he had a handshake deal with Vince McMahon for a retirement match.
Bill Goldberg’s deal with WWE has been expired for some time now, and the company has given no indication that they’re looking to bring him back in the near future. It’s not clear where Goldberg could wrestle next, but he recently indicated that he’s considering a self promoted retirement tour.
“So, if I go on a world tour and promote it myself, that’s a possibility. Hey, I’m a businessman and I’m fortunately in the position, I firmly believe, to where I can still make it happen. At the end of the day, like I said, I do believe that my character deserves a proper send-off and until that happens, I don’t believe I’m hanging them up. So, anything and everything is an option. I’m very much leaning toward promoting it myself and doing a four city world tour. So, let the rumor mill start up after that.”
There’s no word on where Goldberg could wrestle on a potential retirement tour, but given his name value it’s safe to say that there are many companies out there who would be interested in working with him. Tony Khan of AEW has already stated that he thinks Goldberg in AEW would be interesting. One way or another only time will tell how Goldberg’s in-ring career officially comes to an end.
