Matt Riddle has certainly earned himself a reputation for being outspoken, and over the last few years he hasn’t been shy when it comes to sharing his feelings on Goldberg. Riddle has criticized Goldberg’s in-ring ability, and last year at the SummerSlam pay-per-view the two WWE stars shared a tense moment backstage.
However, it seems that the two men are starting to understand one another as Goldberg recently told DAZN that he appreciates Riddle’s passion for the business.
“Yeah. The cocky kid (Riddle) spouting off his mouth in the beginning, and I didn’t appreciate it very much by any stretch of the imagination. But the guy has put in a lot of frickin hard work and a lot of hard work, and he’s dedicated his life to this business.
Whether I like him as a human being or not, I have to understand and appreciate his passion for the business and his work ethic. Because he works hard and that I appreciate as an athlete and as a human. Is he a prick sometimes? Absolutely. But that’s him. That’s his character, and so am I.”
Goldberg will challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam on Saturday night while Riddle will team with Randy Orton to challenge Omos and AJ Styles for the Raw Tag Team Titles. Stay tuned for updates.
