Goldberg has been in the professional wrestling business for a long time, and at one point he was the top star in WCW. After WCW went under Goldberg eventually joined WWE, but it’s clear that he wasn’t exactly happy with his first WWE run.
The former WCW Champion has since returned to WWE for another run which has seen him win the Universal Title twice, and it seems that his relationship with Vince McMahon has changed as well.
During the new Goldberg at 54 documentary on the WWE Network the Hall of Famer talked about his relationship with Vince McMahon, and he noted that they’re much closer than he ever could have imagined.
“I’ve learned a lot more about Vince this time around. We’ve gotten much closer than we ever would have imagined we could have been back in the day. My first run with Vince wasn’t the most amicable relationship by any stretch of the imagination but I would say that wasn’t Vince alone, that was me versus everybody,” Goldberg continued. “I came in the door with my back against it. It’s just been a weird trip. Then coming back, and then getting to be actual friends with Vince, it’s been a wonderful experience and I would have done it just for that alone.”
“It’s just a different feeling. It was like doing something for your Dad, in a very respectful way. I never imagined I’d have that feeling for him, whatsoever.”
Goldberg recently challenged Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, but he was defeated by McIntyre. At this point it’s not clear when he’ll be making his next appearance on WWE programming. Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
