It’s been a few years since Goldberg has stepped into the ring as he last wrestled when he was defeated by Roman Reigns at the Elimination Chamber premium live event in February of 2022. Since then Goldberg has made it clear that he wants to return to the ring for a retirement match.
Last month Goldberg got the wrestling world talking when he got into a heated exchange with Gunther at Bad Blood, and now he has confirmed that he will indeed be returning for a retirement match next year.
The Hall of Famer was asked if there’s any chance of him wrestling a last match during an appearance on SEC Nation and that was when he made the big announcement. Goldberg stated that a date is not set as of right now, but WWE executives have confirmed it will take place in 2025.
While the announcement was being made he also pointed at footage of his exchange with Gunther and teased that he could face The Ring General in his retirement match.
“Here’s the deal, and here’s the news of the day. The news of the day is, per three executives Nick Khan, Chris Legentil and Paul Levesque, in 2025, Goldberg’s having his retirement match. I think we know who the subject, or the victim, or the frontrunner, now we know who it is. I got a couple months to get ready. No date. No time. So, we’ll see.”
