Over the years there have been many rumors and reports about Goldberg’s potential return to the ring, and on Monday, October 17, all of the rumors and reports came to fruition.
Last week on Raw Paul Heyman made his return to television and he challenged Bill Goldberg on behalf of “The Beast” Brock Lesnar. Shortly after Heyman did his thing in the ring, Goldberg announced to the world that he would be making his return to WWE to answer Brock Lesnar’s challenge.
It’s been rumored for weeks now that the former World Champion would be returning for another match with Brock Lesnar, and on Monday night all of the rumors were confirmed.
Goldberg returned to a Hero’s Welcome in Denver, CO, and the crowd spent several minutes chanting “GOOOOLLLLLDBEEERGGG” and “This is Awesome” after he entered the ring.
Eventually Goldberg grabbed the mic and talked about how his deal for WWE 2K17 came together. He told the crowd that he created a little drama in WWE, and maybe it’s better left alone, and he should keep it in the video game. The crowd chanted, “NO! NO! NO!”
He then brought up the fact that Brock Lesnar challenged him to a fight via Paul Heyman. Goldberg told the crowd that he thought to himself maybe he has one last devastating Jackhammer in him.
The former WCW Champion told Brock Lesnar that not only is he next, he’s last. He then dropped the mic and walked away.
The date for their match has yet to be officially announced, but at this point it’s all but confirmed that they will be facing off at Survivor Series.
