It’s been rumored all week that Shane McMahon would be announcing Daniel Bryan as the new General Manager of SmackDown, but there weren’t many rumors going around in regards to the Raw GM.
Shane and Stephanie McMahon kicked off the show and they both announced the General Managers for their respective brands. Stephanie McMahon shocked everyone when she announced that the Cruiserweight division will be returning and it will be exclusive to Raw, but her next announcement was an even more pleasant surprise.
Stephanie revealed that her General Manager for Raw would be none other than Mick Foley. Mick then made his way to the ring to a big pop from the crowd and talked about how important competition was during the Monday Night Wars and how the spirit of competition inspired him to take the General Manager position. Mick then emphasized that he intends to take Raw to new heights.
After Mick’s promo Shane introduced his General Manager and all of the rumors were confirmed when Shane McMahon introduced former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan.
Bryan returned to a huge pop and asked the crowd if they missed him. They responded with a very loud “YES!” chant. He said that he didn’t know if he would ever be able to step back in a WWE ring because he thought it would be too hard for him, but then Shane McMahon called him and changed his mind.
