CM Punk hasn’t appeared on AEW programming since he wrestled at All Out in September, but the former AEW World Champion is still the talk of the wrestling world. Over the last few months everyone has been sharing their opinion on CM Punk and Jimmy Jacobs recently discussed his history with Punk on The Insiders with Conrad Thompson.
Jacobs indicated that CM Punk was not kind to him when they met early on, but things changed in 2003 when Punk saw how hard Jimmy Jacobs was working.
“It was Punk who approached me about giving him a tape to give to Gabe. So if it weren’t for Punk, I wouldn’t be sitting here talking to you right now. Punk was loyal to the people around him and who he saw worked hard. Punk’s a great performer, he’s a great promo. He has a real ‘it’ factor, and he always did. His success is no accident.”
The former WWE writer also commented on CM Punk’s situation with AEW when he added, “It’s unfortunate to see how the stuff in AEW went down. As a performer, he’s an asset.”
There’s been a lot of speculation regarding CM Punk’s next move over the last few months as it’s been reported that AEW is in talks to buy out his contract. However, Tony Khan has not commented on CM Punk’s current status with the company. Stay tuned for updates.
