This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite kicked off with an Owen Hart Foundation Tournament match and Samoa Joe made his way to the ring at the beginning of the show. It was announced ahead of time that Joe would be facing a joker mystery opponent which created a lot of speculation in regards to who it could be.
AEW President Tony Khan said earlier in the day that the joker would be someone who was debuting for All Elite Wrestling. When it came time for the mystery opponent to make his entrance it turned out to be John Morrison who is now using the name Johnny Elite.
Johnny Elite made his debut to a big reaction from the crowd as the match kicked off. The end of the match came when Johnny Elite went for Starship Pain, but Samoa Joe blocked it with his knees. Joe then set Johnny Elite up for the Musclebuster and put him away to pick up the win.
After the match Joe was attacked by Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt and Sutnam Singh. Best Friends then came out to make the save to end the segment. Samoa Joe has now advanced to the semifinals of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Stay tuned for updates.
