Wrestling takes a toll on your body after a while, and sometimes wrestlers are forced to hang up their boots before they would like to. Unfortunately WWE Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella was one of the those stars who had to retire early, but Marella will be returning to the ring next month.

Destiny World Wrestling is currently promoting Santino Marella for their August 27 event at Santino’s Battle Arts Academy, and according to the official description, Marella will be “back for one last match since the wwe 4 years ago.” He is also being advertised for a special appearance at the August 25 event in Halifax, NS.
Santino Marella announced his retirement in July of 2014 after suffering a third neck injury, and he later underwent surgery in September of that same year. He then made infrequent appearances for WWE until he was released in 2016.
Marella commented on his health a few months ago during an interview with Main Event Radio and he noted that his mobility has gotten much better after trying laser light therapy.
“Health is awesome. I recently did laser light therapy on my lower back and my back feels like I’m in my 20’s. Unbelievable. I tried it on my neck though and after double fusion [surgery] it’s not bringing my neck to how I want it to be. My mobility for day-to-day life is perfect.”
