The wrestling world has unfortunately lost another Superstar, as Ashley Massaro has passed away at the age of 39.
According to The Blast, circumstances regarding Massaro’s death are unclear, but the Suffolk County Medical Examiner in New York confirmed that she passed away on Thursday and was brought to the medical examiner’s office.
A “rescue call” reportedly came to her home at 5:23 AM and she was then transported to a local hospital where she passed away.
The dispatch audio shows that officials responded to an unconscious female and administered CPR. The death is currently under investigation, but police believe it was “non-criminal” and no foul play was involved.
Ashley Massaro got her start with WWE when she won the Diva Search in 2005, and she went on to wrestle for the company until her departure in 2008.
WWE issued the following statement:
“We are saddened to learn of the tragic death of former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro. She performed in WWE from 2005-2008 and was beloved by her fellow Superstars and fans around the world. WWE offers its condolences to Ashley’s family and friends.”
