Former WWE superstar Matt Sydal (Evan Bourne) was backstage at the Ring of Honor “Best in the World” PPV. ROH had plans for Sydal to come out before the main event and challenge the ROH Champion to a match at their next event.
However, all the recently released superstars have a 90 day no-compete clause.
Sydal called ROH booker Hunter Johnson and said he was given the ok to compete for ROH. When ROH called WWE to confirm they were told that he would not be able to start working for ROH until September.
ROH paid for Sydal’s flight before they got word back from WWE. Sydal stayed backstage and gave advice to all the young talent because he felt he owed it to ROH.
Come September look for the former Evan Bourne to become a big time player for Ring of Honor.
