No one can wrestle forever, but the best case scenario for a wrestler is to go out with a big retirement match. Brian Kendrick is still wrestling on the independent scene and it’s not exactly clear when his career could come to an end. However, the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion seems to have some ideas in mind when it comes to his last opponent.
Recently Brian Kendrick was asked about a possible final opponent on Reffin It Up With Brian Hebner, and he said that he always picture his last match being against Bryan Danielson.
”I don’t know what it would be because I’d want it to be whatever the most romantic is. What’s the most beautiful story? An easy one is Bryan Danielson because we started together. That’s who I always pictured my last match being against. Could it be against someone who trained me like (William) Regal or Shawn Michaels or Regal’s son [Charlie Dempsey]? Do I have my last match putting over the son of my mentor, that’s really romantic.”
Originally Brian Kendrick was set to be make his debut with AEW in February of 2022, but he was pulled from the show after video clips of him making controversial comments resurfaced online. Kendrick worked as a producer for the Ronda Rousey vs. Shotzi match at Survivor Series in 2022, but he was not re-hired by the company. Stay tuned for more updates on Kendrick’s status as they become available.
