This week’s episode of NXT was a big show and Tony D’Angelo defended the NXT North American Championship against Shawn Spears in the main event. During the match a brawl broke out and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo accidentally bumped Tony D’Angelo off the ring apron, and D’Angelo ended up landing on a steel chair that was on the floor at ringside.
Near the end of the match Tony D’Angelo attempted to hit a spinebuster on Shawn Spears, but his back gave out which led to Spears taking advantage and pinning D’Angelo to become the new NXT North American Champion.

A former WWE star was spotted in the audience during the match as Cassie Lee was there to watch her husband Shawn Spears win the title. Cassie Lee was formerly known as Peyton Royce in WWE, and she originally debuted with the NXT brand back in 2015.
She went on to form The IIconics alongside Billie Kay and together they managed to become one time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Both Peyton Royce and Billie Kay were released from their WWE contracts in 2021.
