With all of the changes that have been announced over the last few days it seems that WWE is on the verge of entering a new era, but for many years Vince McMahon was the one in charge. In order to make it in WWE you had to earn the approval of Vince McMahon and it sounds like Paul London was not favored by Vince.
Paul London recently talked about his WWE run on the Cafe de Rene podcast, and he revealed that former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz informed him that Vince McMahon would often cross his name out when he would get the rundown for TV.
“It was actually when I worked [Chris] Jericho in one of my last TV matches. He [Gewirtz] goes, ‘I’ve been trying to get this match on RAW for over a year. I don’t know what it is, but every time I would write your name on the sheet for TV your name was the first one Vince would always look for and he’d write a line right through your name.’ I’m not kidding.”
London also previously claimed that Vince McMahon would proposition Ashley Massaro to ride on the company jet. London speculated that his relationship with Massaro may have been the reason for Vince wasn’t interested in booking him.
“I think the damage had already been done. That was the thing you would understand. If you’re gonna get involved with somebody in the locker room, you’re playing with fire.”
