Over the years fans have seen some memorable heel and face turns, but from time to time there are wrestlers who fans want to see turn that just end up staying the same.
During a recent appearance on Talk Is Jericho Nick Dinsmore, formerly known as Eugene in WWE, talked about how the idea of him dropping the Eugene character and turning heel was discussed, but Vince McMahon decided against it.
According to Dinsmore the Chairman of the Board was concerned that the audience wouldn’t buy into gimmicks after seeing Eugene make the change.
“Vince didn’t want to do that because he didn’t want to compromise any gimmick wrestlers going forward. Like [fans thinking], ‘Is this just a gimmick?’ Thinking about it now, I would have proposed multiple personalities. And sometimes you can come out of one personality, and go, ‘Eugene’s a sweet guy but this is what I am.’”
