It was a big weekend for professional wrestling as AEW All In aired live from Wembley Stadium and the NWA 75th Anniversary Show took place across two nights from St. Louis, Missouri.
On Sunday night EC3 challenged Tyrus for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship in a bullrope match. EC3 managed to win the gold for the first time in his career when he made Tyrus tap out. It was announced ahead of time that if Tyrus lost the match he would be forced to retire.
After the match EC3 exited the ring while the fans chanted “thank you Tyrus.” Tyrus then got on the mic and said EC3 was the man. He thanked the fans and then EC3 came out with two NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship belts and handed one to Tyrus.
Back in 2010 when he was working for WWE, Tyrus took on the name Brodus Clay. He went on to appear on the fourth season of NXT then formed an alliance with Alberto Del Rio. In 2014 WWE repackaged Brodus Clay with the Funkasaurus gimmick, but he was later released in 2014.
Following his WWE release Brodus Clay joined Impact Wrestling where he worked as Tyrus from 2014 to 2018. Tyrus then went on to make his NWA debut in 2021, but now it appears that his career is over.
