When Triple H took over WWE creative last year a number of former WWE stars were brought back to the company including Eric Young. However, Young never returned to TV for WWE even though he was brought back, and it was reported recently that Young is done with the company.
Fightful Select is reporting that Eric Young requested his release from WWE in April of 2023. The request was granted and his 90 day no-compete clause expired last week.
It was noted that Eric Young requested his release right after Endeavor’s deal with WWE was announced. It’s being said that the timing was not a coincidence as Young didn’t want to work with Vince McMahon, and it was evident that Vince was back in the fold once the deal was announced. Young cited moral, creative and personal reasons in regard to why he didn’t want to work with Vince McMahon.
So far Eric Young is the only talent that’s been confirmed to have requested their release due to Vince McMahon’s return. There were some creative plans for Eric Young for after WrestleMania, but obviously WWE won’t be moving forward with those plans.
Eric Young returned to Impact Wrestling at the Slammiversary pay-per-view on Saturday night and he teamed with Scott D’Amore to defeat the team of Bully Ray & Deaner.
